The opening ceremony of the Japan 2020 Olympic Games will take place on the 24th July 2021. In this case, the Japan games organizers have released few days ago, the Playbook for the Games.

In the 40 pages Playbook, the key thing is how to prevent yourself and others from getting in contact with the COVID19 Virus.

NOC executive in Sierra Leone divided the playbook into pages with one executive member taken one part to lecture the athletes, coaches and officials who will be attending the Japan Olympic Games.

The President of NOC who is a Medical Doctor and also a member of the IOC Medical committee told the audience that there are three key things in the COVID19 prevention.

Three things, he said are wearing face masks, regular washing of hands and maintaining social distance. Wearing of face masks, he said is compulsory for everyone and should be abided by,  except when one is in the dining room.

These rules, he said is not from him or NOC but from the Japan Olympic Games. He appealed to them all that they should do what they have been told to do.

Failing to go by the rules, he said they will punish them and the punishment will be to withdraw accreditation take them to the airport and send you back home.

These rules, he said  will change as the time goes on and they should go by the changes. He asked them to ask questions on what they did not understand now or at any time.

On the issue of vaccines, he said as vaccine also helps, Japan is also asking everyone to be vaccinated before going to the Games.

But again as everybody has his human rights, they can choose to do so if they are comfortable with the vaccine as they are not forcing anyone to be vaccinated.

He though said they don’t know yet what the governments will do about this as there is no vaccine yet in Africa. But he said if the vaccines are available, he advised everyone to take it before going to the Games.

This he said will protect you and the other people in Japan. The Chef De Mission Unisa Deen Kargbo who registers athletes for the games categorically states that there will be no new registration as they will be working with the registration done last year.

But said for those still on qualifications they will inform him after their trials. He informed all that they should monitor their health for 14 days before departure if possible to camp everyone.

In this case, he said there will be test at home before departure and at the airport for those that their travelling time will exceed 72 hours.

For the others, he said they will take them to different location for test. While in Japan, he said nobody will be allowed to use public vehicles except the Games vehicles.

The Chef De Mission went on that athletes, coaches and officials will be tested every four days in Japan. If confirmed positive, they will isolate them including their close contacts. He warned that in Japan athletes should not be in group with other sports athletes.

Because if for example if a volleyball players tested positive and he or she was in contact with an athletics,  athlete and another athlete have an event the other day, he or she will surely miss the event.

No visitors will be allowed in the games village and that even the NOC Presidents and Secretaries will only do so after necessary procedures and will be accompanied by Japanese authorities. No one should eat food out of the village. All athletes will arrive 5 days before their event and will go for 3 days quarantine. The spectators will not shout or sing in the stands but are allow clapping their hands.

The other speakers in the seminar were Joseph Nyande NOC Secretary General/ Basketball president and Prince Sualley NOC Treasurer and Wrestling president.
