“Monkey Wok, Baboon Chop…” SLPP GRASSROOTS ACCUSES BIO OF BETRAYAL

Following the appointment of cabinet positions and other appointments by President Julius Maada Bio, several grassroots supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) are accusing the President of betrayal.

Grassroots supporters of the party across the country described the President’s appointment as full of strangers.

They said that the President appointed people that are not known in the party and people that will have no time for party people.

“Politics is for this world and those who supported the party should be the first to benefit,” a party supporter said but cannot be named for fear of reprisal.

Another supporter said that they are disappointed because those who sacrificed for the party are not recognized and they in the party will continue to suffer.

“The thing is that SLPP is an ungrateful party. They don’t care about the ordinary grassroots supporters,” another supporter said.

They accused the President of being under the control of his wife Fatima Maada Bio, pointing out that even the first lady’s personal assistant is now a deputy minister while those who toiled for the party have been shown the exit door.

“Where was Fatima Bio when we laboured behind Maada?” they asked.

But the Chief Minister designated, David Moinina Sengeh said on the BBC that President Bio’s cabinet is diverse and full of young people and women and that they even appointed the Chair of one of the opposition parties as Minister.
